David Is Striding The Fairways Again After Rowley Knee Operation
Wednesday 19 April 2017

A keen golfer is enjoying a pain free walk on the fairways again after undergoing a complete knee replacement.

David Calcroft had specialist surgery at Rowley Hall Hospital and after a successful operation he can enjoy the game he loves with much more freedom of movement.

The 79-year-old started experiencing pain in his left knee in December which was getting progressively worse week by week.

He went to his GP and was told that his knee had deteriorated badly and that a knee operation would be the best way forward.

His GP advised him to go and see a knee specialist and David was given several options.

David opted for Rowley Hall because of its excellent reputation and he met with Rowley Hall consultant Mr Ashok Sinha, an expert in hip and knee replacements, for an initial consultation before he was given a date to proceed with the surgery.

David, of Penkridge, Staffs, said: “I became aware of the pain and that there may be a problem last autumn.

“I battled on playing golf through the winter but in December I was in more pain with my knee and as it worsened I was struggling to walk and put any weight on it.

“My GP gave me the option of seeing a specialist in Cannock or at Rowley Hall but I had no hesitation in choosing Rowley Hall because I know what a good hospital it is.”

Mr Sinha is a specialist in complex primary hip replacement surgery, hip resurfacing, revision hip replacement surgery and knee replacements.

David, who plays golf at The Chase Golf Club, Cannock, said: “After the talk with Mr Sinha I was booked in for surgery soon afterwards.

“The treatment I received before, during and after my operation was first class. I stayed on the ward for three nights and there wasn’t a grumpy face amongst the staff and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.”

David has been attending physio sessions at Rowley Hall Hospital as part of the aftercare process.

He added: “I would recommend Rowley Hall to anyone because it is a wonderful place to have surgery and you are looked after extremely well.”
