Gardener June Is Blossoming After Life Changing Hip Replacement

Keen gardener June Moore is blossoming after life changing hip replacement surgery at Rowley Hall Hospital.
The 80-year-old has a spring in her step again after she visited the hospital for the operation.
June had been in discomfort with her hip for several years but when her mobility worsened she finally took steps to try and resolve the problem.
She attended the hospital for an initial consultation with hip expert Mr Sabur Malek and just weeks later she returned for a full hip replacement.
Now June can’t wait to get back in the garden this Spring after a long period of frustration.
June, of Blymhill, Staffs, said: “It has been a difficult time for me because as well as being in such a lot of pain and discomfort, my hip problem was also restricting my mobility and movement.
“I couldn’t do the things I took for granted and moving around the garden at home, which is a good size, was one of them. You almost just learn to live with the pain and discomfort.
“When Rowley Hall was suggested to me as a choice of hospital by my GP surgery I liked the look of it straight away.
“I thought at my stage of life it would be nice to be pampered in a private hospital so I had no hesitation in choosing it for the surgery.
“I had to postpone a holiday when I was given the surgery date but I was really struggling at the time and I wouldn’t have enjoyed the holiday so it was definitely the right decision to have the operation.”
Approximately 160,000 people in the UK benefit from hip and knee replacements each year and people in different age groups benefit from surgery.
The cartilage in June’s hip joint had completely worn and needed to be replaced with a prosthetic implant which has massively improved her quality of life.
June added: “The consultant, Mr Malek, was calm and reassuring from the moment I met him and the whole process was organised and professional.
“The other noticeable thing was how happy and friendly all the nurses were and they couldn’t do enough for me during my time at Rowley Hall.
“The hospital is a wonderful place with a lovely atmosphere which helps to put you at ease when you are about to undergo an operation.
“I’ve not been someone who has needed hospital treatment over the years or been a regular visitor to the GP.
“I’m just so grateful to everyone because I feel wonderful again and I can’t wait to get out in the garden again this Spring.”
June was supported throughout the process by her husband Brian who is also full of praise for Rowley Hall Hospital.
Brian said: “The expertise at Rowley Hall shone through at all times and June always felt that she was in the right place.
“I would like to say how grateful I am to all members of staff for the care that June was given.
“If either of us require procedures in the future then this is the hospital we would choose to come to without a doubt.”
