Rowley Catering Team Achieves Five Star Hygiene Award
Tuesday 3 April 2018
Catering staff at Rowley Hall Hospital are celebrating after achieving a five star food hygiene rating for the seventh consecutive year.
The kitchen at the Stafford-based hospital received the top award after it was inspected by the Food Standards Agency.
It is another proud moment for the hospital which prides itself on an excellent catering service.
Food is delivered to patients on the ward at the hospital and the canteen is also extremely popular with staff and consultants who use the facility on a daily basis.
The Food Standards Agency delivers the Food Hygiene Rating System which helps consumers choose where to eat or shop for food.
It provides them with valuable information about the hygiene standards in public places such as restaurants, pubs, cafes, takeaways and hotels.
The rating ranges from 0 (urgent improvement necessary) to five stars (very good) and it assesses how staff store, handle, prepare, cook and serve food.
Julie Glover, Hotel Services Manager at Rowley Hall Hospital, is delighted with the latest rating.
Julie said: “It is very much a team effort and we are proud to have achieved the five star rating for the seventh year running.
“The award means that we sit alongside some of the best hotels and food outlets in the country.
“Patients who have visited Rowley Hall for treatment also give us lots of fantastic feedback about the quality of food we provide through the hospital’s ‘Friends and Family’ survey which also makes us extremely proud.”
Rowley Hall Hospital General Manager Lisa Powell added: “We are extremely proud of the food quality and the cleanliness of our kitchen at Rowley Hall.
“This award is another example of the excellent service which we provide here for our patients and staff.
“The catering team deserve a great deal of credit for achieving the highest possible rating for the past seven years.”
