Runner Is Back On Track After Tummy Tuck Surgery
Wednesday 19 July 2017

Lisa Sheldon feels proud to be out running again after having an abdominoplasty at Rowley Hall Hospital.

The keen runner feels she is heading in the right direction and has a new found self-confidence thanks to the operation delivered by cosmetic surgeon Mr Philip Brackley.

Mother-of-two Lisa wanted to have the procedure done years ago because she was unhappy with her figure after having children.

But now her sons have grown up she decided that the time was right to go ahead with the surgery.

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure which is used to make the abdomen thinner and firmer.

The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall.

Lisa, of Hednesford near Cannock researched into surgeons that delivered the procedure locally and was very impressed with Mr Brackley.

She booked a consultation with him and had no hesitation in booking in for surgery with him.

Lisa, 46, said: “You’ve got to be sure that you choose the right surgeon and one you can trust so I’d done my homework.

“I had a caesarean when I had my second son and after that I wasn’t happy with the excess fat around my abdomen.

“I’m not overweight but I felt really conscious about that area of my body. I didn’t like going out running and found it difficult on holiday wearing bikinis. I just wasn’t happy about myself.

“Although I’d been thinking about having it done for 15 years it was all down to when the right time was and that was this year.

Mr Brackley specialises in a range of surgeries including breast operations (augmentation, reduction and uplift), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), abdominoplasty surgery (tummy tucks) and also has a special interest in skin cancer management.

He has a regular clinic at Rowley Hall every Thursday morning and stages a number of Saturday open events during the year to highlight his surgeries where patients can benefit from short complimentary consultations with him.

Since the surgery, Lisa hasn’t looked back and is so pleased she had the surgery which has given her a new look and boosted her self esteem.

Lisa is very grateful to Mr Brackley and feels she definitely made the right decision to have the surgery with him.

She said: “Throughout the entire process Mr Brackley was calm and reassuring and he has made a very neat job of the surgery.

“I can’t thank him and all the staff at Rowley Hall who looked after me for a two night stay following the operation.

“It feels great to be out running again. I’m doing 15 kilometres, around three times a week and I feel much more confident in myself.

“I’ve not been on holiday abroad since the surgery but I’m looking forward to that now.”

Rowley Hall was graded ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in October 2016 and the hospital prides itself on providing a clean and safe environment for all its patients.

Mr Brackley said: “I’m delighted that Lisa is pleased with her abdominoplasty which is one of a number of cosmetic procedures that I deliver.”
