We now offer a top to toe Visual skin assessment with a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Philip Brackley, to assess all visible moles on the body. During this assessment he will give you information and guidance on what to look for and how to observe your skin/moles for changes.
If the consultant feels any moles need closer inspection then a procedure called Dermoscopy will be recommended. This involves taking images of the moles and having them analysed at high magnification. He will explain and discuss the results with you.
Mole mapping is recommended if you have a significant number of moles. This involves taking photographs of parts or all of the body with the specialised equipment. You will be asked to return after about 12 weeks when a second photograph will be taken. (The length of time may vary according to each individuals needs) The latest technology is used by the specialist computer equipment to compare the two photographs and identify any new or changing moles.
If you return in 6 or 12 months the pictures can be compared to any that have been taken before. This is the most accurate way of detecting new and changing moles, especially on areas that are not easy to see such as your back.
|Full Mole Screening Assessment||£200|
ALL self referral patients will require a visual skin assessment; the nurse will discuss and recommend dermoscopy and mole mapping according to her findings on the visual skin assessment.
Referrals from a Dermatologist for mole mapping do not require a visual skin assessment unless requested.
