Facial injections at Rowley Hall Hospital
Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, fill lines, wrinkles and folds and redefine lips. There are different types of fillers which are suitable for different types of skin and each treatment takes around 20 minutes.
The dermal filler is applied under the skin with a very fine needle and the thickness of the gel selected and the amount used is dependent on the line or fold to be filled.
Fillers can be used to improve the appearance of:
- Crows feet at the corner of the eyes
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Nasolabial folds between the nose and the corner of the mouth
- Worry lines that run across the forehead
- Acne scars
- Chicken pox scars
- Smoker’s lines on the top of the lip area
- Marionettes line at the corner of the mouth
- Unevenness in the skin post surgery or skin grafting
The benefits of treatments can be seen instantly, although there may be slight temporary swelling around the site of the injection.
In most cases the effects of the treatment will last between 6-12 months, depending on where the filler has been placed.
Muscle Relaxing Injections
Muscle relaxing injections are used for treating frown lines, forehead furrows and eye lines (crow’s feet). The injection works by relaxing the dynamic facial muscles that cause facial wrinkles , blocking the nerve transmission to the muscles under the skin.
Facial lines formed by the movement of underlying muscles then diminish and disappear.
Once the treatment is complete, the greatest effect is usually seen after one to two weeks and the more relaxed, fresher look can last between three and six months. Repeat treatments have been seen to last longer.
